Course Description

In a group setting, students will engage in problem solving activities that will allow them to research, design, construct, test, and analyze two major transportation types.  Each student design team will manufacture two large scale cardboard vehicles that will be either gravity or human powered.  Data for the hydrodynamic efficiency of water transportation and the aerodynamic efficiency of land transportation systems will be discussed. Students will work in a group setting to design and construct a corrugated cardboard boat that three team members must sit in and propel across the NH Senior High swimming pool.  Each team will also design and construct a cardboard land vehicle that will be raced outside on the street against other race teams.  Students are asked to supply several large pieces of cardboard to construct their vehicles from.
