Course Description
All 7th grade junior high students are given the opportunity to experience technology education in the areas of graphic communication and technical drawing. Students use the following programs: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Auto CAD, Microsoft Word, and the IKEA kitchen planning tool. The following areas of study are introduced in 7th grade.

Magazine Cover
Glass-Etching
7th grade students use the computers to make a black and white graphic and text They use this to create a mask (photo resist). The students use layout skills to place the mask. They use a pressure pot and blast box to etch their design.

Adobe Illustrator Designs
7th grade students use Illustrator to create a front cover for their portfolio. Students import pictures, manipulate shapes and work on basic layout of a page.

Introduction to Adobe Photoshop
7th grade students will learn some of the basics of Adobe Photoshop. They will add layers, use the paint brush, paint bucket, eraser, and other tools to create a parity of a classic painting by Grant Wood. (American Gothic)

Adobe Photoshop Effects
7th grade students will manipulate digital photos using Adobe Photoshop. They will add effects and filters to create a unique photo.

Students will identify the different typestyles used in communicating a message.

Magazine Cover
7th grade students will use Adobe Photoshop to remove the background from a photo of the student. With this photo they will create a magazine cover. They will add a background, title, photo caption, and other items to create a magazine cover.
