Course Description

This course offering will be team taught with a teacher from the Business Communications & Information Technology Department.  Product Design & Marketing will allow students the opportunity to manufacture a working prototype of their design or invention.  Students may work individually or in a group setting to research, design, create, market, and eventually sell a product locally and on eBay.  The emphasis of the course is placed on conceptualizing, designing, and developing a detailed advertising and marketing plan for the student’s product.   Skills are demonstrated in the preparation of advertising products in various media, such as newspaper layouts and television commercials.  Students will spend one semester in the Technology Education Department designing and manufacturing the product, and the second semester in the B.C.I.T. Department developing the advertising and marketing plans. Careers in engineering, marketing, and advertising will be explored.
