I would like to take this opportunity to welcome your son/daughter to ninth grade biology. This course will be based on a technology-driven, student-centered approach to learning.  The Modules and Concepts for the course are based on the Big Ideas and Essential  Questions taken directly from Pennsylvania’s Standards Aligned System. Students will rely on laptops, iPod touches, microscopes, and other equipment to aide them in their scientific exploration.  Your son/daughter will be exposed to the latest concepts in biology incorporating science topics taken directly from current issues in science.

I am excited to embark on this journey with your child.  I hope son/daughter will not only learn about biology but also enjoy himself or herself along the way. 

In order to help your son/daughter succeed in this course, I am asking he/she come to school with a 1.5” three-ring binder and a spiral ring notebook just for biology.  This binder will help keep your son/daughter organized as he/she moves through the course and the notebook will house a journal and information pertinent to review prior to any standardized test in biology.  I highly encourage but do not require binder tabs. Organization is a key to student success.
